The honesty of children can remind us of what we take for granted. Like a toothbrush.
For our second sponsorship year at the Boise Art Museum’s Art in the Park Children’s Art event in early September, volunteers from the two Boise area offices passed out oral health bags to all the 2000+ children over the three-day event. The smiles, and sometimes pure glee, that came consistently from the kids when asked “do you want a free toothbrush” was both fun to watch, and a reminder to us to appreciate even the little things. It was more than once that a volunteer overheard a parent thanking them because they hadn’t been able to purchase a new toothbrush for their child in a long time.
Willamette Dental Group believes that supporting the arts can lead to a healthy community, just like good oral health leads to the overall health of a person. “We are grateful to Willamette Dental Group for supporting the visual arts in Idaho and for contributing to the health of our community,” says Melanie Fales, executive director of the Boise Art Museum. “Together, we are giving young children early art experiences, fostering creativity, and nurturing a sense of wonder, all of which can be life-long advantages to general well-being.”
Getting beyond the dental operatories, and into the community at large, allows Willamette Dental Group a chance to project our core values while educating kids, and their parents, that good oral health habits start early.
